Evening News Update | Friday - November 20, 2009

Another Friday night has arrived - and sure can't complain about the weather today for being the 20th of November - and the weekend looks to be in the high 50's.

Today the most important news I saw (and I see plenty sometimes) perhaps is the story off of SpaceWeather in regard to the near miss of the 45+ foot asteroid flying past us half the distance from Earth to the Moon TODAY! THAT IS CLOSE! And, that was a good size rock to have coming flying down and and hitting us! With the military calling all incoming rocks as CLASSIFIED on June 10, 2009 hold a reasonable guess they know something they aren't tell us regarding the heavy traffic area in space our solar system is passing through - with the incoming from space being seen from Utah to Colorado this week, too.

WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM?

NEAR MISS FROM SPACE ROCK TODAY!!!

November 20, 2009 - ASTEROID FLYBY: Newly-discovered asteroid 2009 WJ6 is flying past Earth today only 110,000 miles away--about half the distance to the Moon. At the time of closest approach (1100 UT on Nov. 20th) the 14-meter-wide space rock will glide through the northern constellation Draco glowing like a 16th magnitude star. [3D orbit] [ephemeris]

INCOMING SPACE ROCK DEBRIS PICTURES

Asteroid Debris caused electric-blue "mystery cloud" over Colorado and Utah on Nov 18, 2009

ASTEROID CLOUD: The electric-blue "mystery cloud" seen twisting over Colorado and Utah at daybreak on Nov. 18th is no longer a mystery. It was asteroid debris. Consider the following images:

On Oct. 7, 2008, asteroid 2008 TC3 hit the atmosphere and exploded over Sudan, creating the cloud pictured left. On Nov. 18, 2009, a similar-sized asteroid hit the atmosphere and exploded over Colorado and Utah in a flash of light that startled onlookers across at least eight states. Hours later, daybreak revealed the "mystery cloud" pictured right. It looks just like the debris from 2008 TC3.

Both clouds resemble icy noctilucent clouds that form naturally around Earth's poles during summer or in the aftermath of rocket launches. Researchers have long suspected that space dust can prompt the formation of noctilucent clouds by acting as nucleation points for high-altitude ice crystals. Dusty debris from exploded asteroids may serve this purpose quite nicely.

The explosion of 2008 TC3 in Oct. 2008 produced meteorites that were later recovered. The asteroid-blast of Nov. 2009 probably produced meteorites, too, although researchers aren't yet sure where they fell. Stay tuned for updates.

Associated Press - As many as 400 Nebraska state employees could lose jobs

During hearings on the budget-cutting plan, several state-agency officials said it was too early to say what the effects of the cuts might be. But if agencies rely heavily on layoffs, as many as 400 of state government's roughly 18,600 employees people could lose their jobs.

"I don't know if this is the easy way out," Sen. Arnie Stuthman of Platte Center said shortly after lawmakers voted 47-0 on the budget bills. "I think it's fair that we do it this way, but I'm concerned there are certain agencies that are in crisis already and this will make it worse."

One worry is that it could increase the burden on front-line social workers already struggling to keep up with growing demand for welfare-related services such as food stamps in the down economy

10-11 News - Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman has approved a massive package of spending cuts to close a $334 million budget gap caused by lower-than-expected state revenue.
Heineman announced his approval of the plan on Friday shortly after lawmakers gave it overwhelming approval. He did not veto anything in the package. The cuts will be spread over the remainder of this fiscal year, which ends in July, and next fiscal year.

The plan hinges on across-the-board budget cuts to most state agencies of 2.5 percent this fiscal year and 5 percent next fiscal year. Officials may not know the effects of the cuts until January.

Also, K-12 public schools will get about $34 million less next year than they expected.

The package does not contain tax increases.

The moderate lawmaker told Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., that he would vote with rank-and-file Democrats to move ahead on the legislation.

In a statement Friday, Nelson says the Senate should try to fix a health care system that costs too much and delivers too little for Nebraskans.

The vote is scheduled for Saturday night, and Democrats need the support of every senator in their party to move the bill forward over Republicans' objections.
PLEASE NOTE HOW THE LINCOLN JOURNAL STAR HAD THE HEADLINE:
Nelson will vote for cloture

I, personally had to go look up what CLOTURE meant!! Guess they don't want a healthcare demonstration in Lincoln?

NEBRASKA'S OWN GLOBALIST - CHUCK HAGEL NAMED TO CO-CHAIR OBAMA'S INTELLIGENCE ADVISORY BOARD - IS HE NOW A CZAR?
HAGEL IS A MEMBER OF THE COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS - CFR
(HE HAS A PLACE IN THE UNDERGROUND SHELTER FOR THE HIGHER UP MINIONS WHEN THE SHTF!)

October 28, 2009 - President Obama appointed Atlantic Council chairman Senator Chuck Hagel the new co-chair of the President's Intelligence Advisory Board (PIAB), along with former Oklahoma Senator David Boren. The Council congratulates Senator Hagel.

Recently, President Barack Obama named Chuck Hagel, a left-leaning Republican, as co-chair of his Intelligence Advisory Board. Although a leader in the GOP, Hagel developed a close relationship with Obama during his presidential campaign. Reportedly both men are Internationalists with some observers claiming they are more concerned with foreign nations than their own country and its people.

Chuck Hagel is a member of various Globalist organizations, such as the Council on Foreign Relations (CFP), according to Washington sources.

The CFR has worked to create and preserve a system of worldwide economic, political, and military dependencies/protectorates. This system initially was used to "contain" the Eurasian and Latin American left, but has evolved into a welfare system for United States-based multinational corporations.

Hagel once wrote, "The UN is more relevant today than it has ever been" and "U.S. interests are not mutually exclusive from the interests of its friends and allies."

In addition, "the United States and the European Union can benefit by teaming up to address the global issues of the coming era" and the "United States can continue to set an example, not arrogantly, but cooperatively, through strong leadership and partnership."

CHUCK HAGEL (born October 4, 1946) is a former United States Senator from Nebraska.

A member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

A member of the Republican Party, he was first elected in 1996 and was reelected in 2002. On 10 February 2009, he was elected as Chairman of the Atlantic Council of the United States, succeeding General James L. Jones, who left to become National Security Advisor to President Barack Obama.

Born in North Platte, Nebraska, to Betty Dunn Hagel and Charles Dean Hagel, who had German and Polish ancestry, he graduated from St. Bonaventure High School (now Scotus Central Catholic High School) in Columbus, Nebraska, the Brown Institute for Radio and Television in 1966 and the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1971.

On its website The Times reported that the Senator was a possible candidate for the cabinet position of United States Secretary of Defense in the Barack Obama administration.

Nelnet says it will hire 250 in Lincoln, Nebraska within 6 months

Nelnet

Nelnet was recently investigated by the Inspector General's Office for allegations of misuse of federal student loan programs.[3] A United States Department of Education audit revealed that since 1993, Nelnet has abused a loophole in federal tax legislation that allowed the company to receive a higher interest rate on specified loans, generating $278 million from taxpayers and possibly an excess $1.2 billion in profits.[4][3] Nelnet has disputed the findings of the audit.

Ultimately, U.S. Department of Education Under Secretary Sara Tucker allowed Nelnet to keep the $278 million windfall. It is worth noting that Tucker had ties to Nelnet through the Hispanic College Fund, where she is the former Chief Executive Officer.[5]

Nelnet has also made financial contributions to United States congressional campaigns, a practice that some have argued is improper given the fact that interest rates and lending preferences are often set by congressional committees.[6] While some have argued that these contributions have led to favoritism shown to Nelnet, a conclusive link between the contributions and congressional actions has yet to be established.

In February 2007, New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo launched an investigation into alleged deceptive lending practices by student loan providers, including The College Board, EduCap, Nelnet, Citibank, and Sallie Mae.[7]

The New York Times reported in August 2007, that Senator Jon Bruning, the former Nebraska Attorney General, allowed Nelnet to renege on a $1 million settlement the company reached with Bruning in April 2007.[8][9] Nelnet was accused of industry wide kickbacks, improper inducements, and gifts from student loan providers to colleges and universities. Nelnet quickly shut down a Nebraska investigation into its activities by agreeing to provide $1 million to the state in support of a national financial aid awareness campaign. Bruning decided in August 2007 to forgive Nelnet its $1 million obligation after the company announced that it had reached a separate $2 million settlement with New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to end the AG's investigation into Nelnet's business practices.[9] Mr. Bruning called the Cuomo’s investigation of Nelnet and other student-loan companies “ridiculous” and “political.”[10]

According to Bruning's spokeswoman, Bruning decided to forgive Nelnet's obligation because "it doesn’t make sense to create two funds for the same purpose." Officials from Nelnet and Union Bank & Trust, which are both owned by the same family, gave $16,100 to Bruning for his Senate election campaign, including $2,300 from Nelnet President Jeff Noordhoek, just 16 days before the two would appear together to announce the $1 million settlement.[9] In his interview with the Omaha World-Herald, Mr. Bruning called himself “a friend of Nelnet” and said he would “never apologize” for his relationship with the company.[11]

Constitutional Legality There is some question as to the constitutional legality of the Federal Reserve Notes we use today.

"No state shall...make anything but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts." (U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 10)

The justification is done through a loophole whereby it is the Federal Reserve that produces the currency, not the individual States.1 The changing of the dollar from being a silver certificate to a Federal Reserve Note has enabled the production of additional money, that is, in the words of former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, without limit.2

Inflating the money supply causes a transfer of wealth from existing holders of money to the first recipients of the newly created money through the process of devaluation. It is, in essence, a form of theft.

"...the U.S. government has a technology, called a printing press (or, today, its electronic equivalent), that allows it to produce as many U.S. dollars as it wishes at essentially no cost." (Governor Ben S. Bernanke, Deflation: Making Sure "It" Doesn't Happen Here)

What we today regard as U.S. legal tender notes are not legitimate dollar bills. There is no longer any paper currency or fixed concept of value known as a "dollar bill". We carry and transact business with Federal Reserve Notes, and they merely represent the concept of a dollar bill.

The Fed is vigorously fighting any audit because we are going to see empty strip malls and failed condo projects on their books. Lender of last resort was probably not designed to bailout late night infomercial tanned gurus that bombed out on their dream of everyone owning a Florida condo. Is this really what our central bank has become?

American Hangover (The Day the Dollar Died, Part II)

The following posting in ITALICS to represent the fictional perspective I see possible during a week long currency crisis created by the United States government and how it might well be viewed from the eyes of a blogger, a truck driver and a warehouse section manager. The premise might seem like a crisis that could not happen here, but does it really take much of a reach to come to these conclusions? Each individual might react differently, each aspect of the story questionable to some degree but the question has been asked of yours truly as to why and how the series of events could occur in such rapidity and without warning. For those that have been reading my pages and works since late 2005 when some friends in the real estate and financial industry made me aware and gave me the red pill so I could understand the depths of the financial fraud being perpetuated on our nation and much of the Western world married to our foolishness.

To provide an alternative to just the story telling aspects as how I envision such a time line let me start with another opening salvo and commentary on today’s markets to give you a perspective. The regular readers of these pages understand that I have been preaching the 1-3-6 Rule for some time and as such a quick rehash for my new guests is in order. During the peak of the financial and credit crisis in 2008 and 2009, the 1, 3 and 6 month United State Treasuries had their yields crater to 0.00% or into negative territory in some cases and just above that during other periods. Let us start this brief trip in time with a story from Reuters on April 20, 2009 titled:

US Treasury bill rates fall on bank concerns

Today those rates per CNBC are:

1 Month: 0.01%

3 Month: 0.01%

6 Month: 0.11%

Those are absurd yields by any stretch but when measured against the last “official” inflation report you are actually paying the government ten cents on the dollar to hold your money. To get a better perspective, here is the report from Bondsonline at 1626 ET on November 19, 2009..........

401(k) as Dangerous as the Dollar

This freight train is building up speed, folks, and actions which were objects of scorn two years ago can be discerned now quite clearly. Here are some serious warnings:

1. Empty out your safety deposit box. Your bank manager will confirm that if there is a Friday surprise he can not guarantee that you will ever have access to it again.

2. Start pulling your cash out of banks. Again, turn as much of it as possible into real property–which does not mean “real estate”but tangible assets. It doesn’t matter if the banks crash before the bond market does or whether the dollar crashes or is devalued first. The interests rates are so low it is very inexpensive insurance to remove your personal wealth from sinking Bernankes and store it in metal, C-rations (sorry, MRE, “meals, ready to eat”), or cowrie shells. I’m famous for saying, “The worst that can happen is…” and the worst that can happen is you will lose the premium you paid for gold coins (there are better ways to buy metal), forfeit the 1.13% your funds are accruing in the bank, and have to pay the premium to sell silver ingots back much later. Don’t stand there like a deer caught in a jack light, and don’t expect any sympathy if you go to the bank one day and see signs that say “Bank holiday. Closed until further notice.” or “Daily withdrawal limit $300.” There are proposals for those very restrictions floating around, and that limit is going to include transferring funds between banks. Mr. Paulson asked for permission a while back to post SWAT teams to prevent bank runs.

3. You’ve been warned repeatedly to accumulate a bare minimum of three months’ supplies of food, water, and Sudoku puzzles, those representing whatever you, personally, would not wish to be without in times of stress and crisis. Don’t forget the Tullamore Dew.

4. If the dollar is devalued again history shows that the usual amount is on the order of two-thirds. If you want to risk getting roughly thirty-three Amero coins for a Bernanke, you keep your innocent faith that this is “just another bump in the road” and that Mr. Obama couldn’t possibly do what Roosevelt and Nixon did. When the dust settles from what at best will be a controlled demolition you have watched go whoomp-whoomp-whoomp-whoomp-whoomp in a series of rapid shocks you will take what you are given on any assets you haven’t squirreled away in hard money of various kinds including tobacco, soap, fifty pound bags of rice and pinto beans, and canned corned beef.

Our world is a-swirl with forces building hurricane speed, each having an impact on the others. The concatenation of instability in the bond and stock markets, housing and commercial real estate, the mushroom cloud of increased “money” supply, job losses developing in the auto and tobacco industries due to recent legislation, the Chinese and Japanese at least eying manipulating our currency or replacing the dollar as the standard against which other currencies float, and the possibility that the government is going to appropriate the health industry are just some of the warning signs that indicate it is time to head for the storm cellars with the kiddies, the livestock, a kerosene lantern, a good book, and an enormous picnic lunch.

The Idolatry of Celebrity Worship

Giving others the glory that is due God

One of the more popular tactics of modern-day marketing is the use or should I say misuse of celebrities. They’re everywhere these days peddling this, endorsing that – posing as “experts” with a special knowledge or wisdom into whatever the public at large assumes they have simply because their face and/or voice is recognizable and trusted due to some past or present and often irrelevant career, affiliation, endeavor or event that gained them a degree of notoriety.

A five-pointed star (☆) is a very common ideogram (a graphic symbol that represents an idea or concept) throughout the world. If drawn with lines of equal length and angles of 36° at each point, it is sometimes termed a golden five pointed star. A symbol of mystical and magical significance.

The golden five-pointed star has particularly strong associations with military power and war.

United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) is one of the ten Unified Combatant Commands of the United States Department of Defense. The Joint Chiefs of Staff created it in 1992 as a successor to the Strategic Air Command (SAC).

It is charged with space operations (such as military satellite), information operations (such as Information warfare), missile defense, global command and control, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR), global strike and strategic deterrence (the United States nuclear arsenal), and combating weapons of mass destruction.

USSTRATCOM is headquartered at Offutt Air Force Base south of Omaha, Nebraska. In 2002, USSTRATCOM absorbed the United States Space Command (USSPACECOM).

USSTRATCOM is one of the four Unified Combatant Commands organized along a functional basis. The other six are organized on a geographical basis.

The unified miltary combat command structure is intended to give the President and the Secretary of Defense a unified resource for greater understanding of specific threats around the world and the means to respond to those threats as quickly as possible.

Baltimore Chronicle | How We Pay for Pharma’s Crooked Dealings

November 20, 2009

In early November the Indiannapolis Star ran down some of the big payouts by the drugsters.

In January, Eli Lilly and Co. agreed to pay $1.4 billion to settle charges it illegally promoted its antipsychotic drug, Zyprexa, for unapproved uses. Nine whistle-blowers, former Lilly employees, split about $100 million of the settlement as their reward.

In September, Pfizer said it would pay $2.3 billion to settle charges that it illegally promoted numerous drugs, including the painkiller Bextra. Six whistle-blowers split about $102 million.

In October, AstraZeneca reached a $520 million agreement to settle investigations into illegal marketing of its psychiatric drug, Seroquel. Several whistle-blowers will split an undisclosed amount of money.

And last week, in a courtroom in Trenton, N.J., the latest case began, as a former sales worker at Janssen (owned by Johnson & Johnson) testified she was fired in 2004 for complaining about what she considered pressure to illegally promote the antipsychotic drug Risperdal for unapproved uses.

Meanwhile, more than 1,000 active whistle-blower cases are backlogged at the Department of Justice, and about 200 of them deal with drug companies.

Of the top 20 False Claims Act cases, measured by the amount of money recovered, 12 involved judgments or settlements against pharmaceutical companies, accounting for billions of dollars in recoveries.

In 2008, according to Fortune, profits of the top 10 drugmakers alone came to $50 billion–and that, of course, is after the huge payouts to corporate executives.

None of the fines or settlements resulting from these cases will mar the profitability of Big Pharma, which consistently ranks as one of the top two or three most profitable industries in the United States in Fortune 500 rankings.

VITAMIN D AND THE FLU
Immune system boosters include green tea, garlic, green vegetables, and regular exercise and avoid- or at least reduce- sugar, dairy and meat products. Additionally adding vitamin D to your diet can give you the extra boost your body needs to prevent the flu.

Part 1: Preventing the Flu with Vitamin D

Vitamin D deficiency is a widespread and common problem that causes chronic conditions, debilitating diseases and, in some cases, death. Over one million people die each year from vitamin D deficiency most likely due to not getting enough sun exposure because of skin cancerswine flu!

Doctors recommend taking Vitamin D regularly to boost your immune system. "Vitamin D is produced in the body during exposure to sunlight," says Dr. Oz, host of the Dr. Oz Show. "During the winter we tend to get less exposure so vitamin D supplements are recommended. People who take vitamin D supplements have better luck avoiding the seasonal flu; there is no reason to think that it won't do the same for H1N1 virus. Flu outbreaks tend to occur in places where solar radiation is low."

Experts agree, "If you take vitamin D, you don't need a vaccine!" says Mike Adams, editor of Natural News. The swine flu vaccine is experimental and risky. With vaccine side effects ranging from headaches to severe life-threatening allergic reactions, take some Vitamin D please!
