WE CAN NOW LOOK FORWARD TO LONGER DAYS!! HOPE YOUR WINTER SOLSTICE WAS A GOOD ONE ....

The news continues to be on the wacko side ... like a Prez who has just signed up taxpayers for a hundred billion dollars to be paid to the United Nations via his jet trip to Copenhagen last week ... now saying this week:

CHINA: 'The world does not have Money to buy more US Treasuries'...

From UrbanSurvival.com:

"China Central Banker says harder to buy U.S., Treasuries" although that should come as no surprise.

What this sets the stage for in early 2010 is a slowly emerging realization that the US could end up buying huge UK debt issues with the UK in return buying ours...a kind of symbiotic Ponzi deal. Which will do fine - maybe - for the January Treasury auction, but after that, someone's likely to figure out the new circular-reference game. I mean besides us.

China Nixes Climate Agreement - China was willing to assist a western economic suicide

December 20, 2009 - China was willing to assist a western economic suicide, but was not interested in participating. The Independent explains how China killed the agreement by refusing to compromise:

The day's most remarkable feature was a direct and unprecedented personal clash between the US President, Barack Obama, and the Chinese Premier, Wen Jiabao, in which Mr Wen took deep offence at Mr Obama's insistence – in public – that the Chinese should allow their promised cuts in greenhouse gases to be internationally verified. When the President, in an unyielding speech, said that without international verification "any agreement would be empty words on a page", that was too much for Mr Wen. He left the conference in Copenhagen's Bella Centre, returned to his hotel in the city, and responded with a direct snub of his own – he sent low-level delegates to take his place in the talks.

A high-level source told The Independent that the US President was amazed when he found who he was negotiating with, and clearly regarded Mr Wen's absence as a major diplomatic insult. He snapped: "It would be nice to negotiate with somebody who can make political decisions"...

EPA, USDA push farmers to use coal waste on fields - "smearing on farm land stuff trying to be prevented from entering environment"

.... The material is produced by power plant "scrubbers" that remove acid rain causing sulfur dioxide from plant emissions. A synthetic form of the mineral gypsum, it also contains mercury, arsenic, lead and other heavy metals.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says those toxic metals occur in only tiny amounts that pose no threat to crops, surface water or humans. But some environmentalists say too little is known about how the material affects crops, and ultimately human health, for the government to suggest that farmers use it on their land.

"Basically this is a leap into the unknown," said Jeff Ruch, executive director of Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility. "This stuff has materials in it that we're trying to prevent entering the environment from coal-fired power plants and then to turn around and smear it across ag lands raises some real questions." .... Missouri wages war against its Farmers

Farmers may see large tax increases under proposal from Missour State Tax Commission

Monday, December 21, 2009
Many farmers may see substantial tax increases on their land if a proposal by the Missouri State Tax Commission stands.

The commission last week agreed to change the tax rate for farmland in different categories, based on a study by the University of Missouri-Columbia of a 15-year cycle of farm income. The assessment is conducted every two years, though no changes were instituted this year.

Under the proposal, land suitable for cultivation would see taxes increase by as much as 29 percent, while taxes would decrease by up to 25 percent for land where crops generally aren't grown. The increase would benefit entities such as schools. READ MORE

Bolivia's first indigenous president accuses Obama first black president of US of continuing historically heavy-handed relationship with Latin America

December 21, 2009 - Bolivian President Evo Morales dismissed US warnings against developing close ties with Iran in an interview published Monday in Spain, saying he would not accept "colonial attitudes".

Earlier this month US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said countries such as Venezuela and Bolivia should "think twice" about the consequences of their ties with the Islamic Republic, which Washington accuses of seeking nuclear weapons. Iran says its nuclear programme is for peaceful energy purposes.

Asked about Clinton's warning, Morales told Spanish daily El Mundo that Bolivia - would not allow paternalism on the part of any country in the world. -

- Colonial attitudes have ended, at least while I am president. Hillary Clinton is making a mistake by warning me, threatening me, lifting a yellow card - he added.

- We are now going to continue to have ties with revolutionary and anti-imperialist nations, with more greater strength. -

Morales and several other left-wing South American leaders, including Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, have pursued closer ties with Russia and China as well as with Iran, causing discomfort in Washington.

Last month, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited Bolivia, which voiced support for the country's right to a nuclear programme.

Morales, Bolivia's first indigenous president, has accused Barack Obama, the first black president of the United States, of continuing Washington's historically heavy-handed relationship with Latin America.

In his interview with El Mundo, Morales said Obama was following the footsteps of his predecessor George W. Bush since entering the White House in January.

- I could give (Obama) lessons in how to improve his image and that is by working for equality, for the well-being of our nations. It is a shame that a black brother, whose parents faced discrimination just as that faced by the indigenous movement, carried out this policy - he said.

- Let's see if blacks and indigenous people can unite to solve structural problems. But I believe the black man is being a better student of the white man: Bush - he added.

Dec. 21 (Bloomberg) -- About 6,000 people in Malawi’s northern district of Karonga need emergency help after an earthquake hit the area yesterday, killing three people, injuring 200 and displacing thousands, a government official said.

Eighty-one people were admitted to hospital and another 171 received medical treatment, Commissioner for Relief and Disaster Preparedness Lilian Ngoma told a press conference shown by Malawi Broadcasting Corp. The earthquake measured 6.2 on the Richter scale, she said.

“The situation on the ground is terrible and we call upon the international community, non-governmental organizations, religious organizations and individuals to assist the victims,” Ngoma said in the northern city of Mzuzu.

The earthquake was the fourth to have hit the district since Dec. 6 and brings the total number of fatalities to four.

Usually the enticing smell of food is associated with hunger pangs, but researchers in the Netherlands think that foods can be engineered to release satiating aromas during chewing. This would help combat obesity by stimulating areas of the brain that signal fullness. In a paper published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, the researchers outline how food products could be tailored to release a higher quality -- or a higher quantity -- of aromatic food molecules, thus discouraging overeating.

As Bill O'Reilly said: " What spin is, is taking a set of circumstances, all right, and taking that circumstance and making it not what it is."

The problem with organ transplants is that the organ has to come from someone else. Since most people rather fancy their hearts and lungs, getting any organ other than a kidney usually requires the difficult combination of donor consent and timely death.
