10 Things That Every American Should Know About The Federal Reserve The Economic Collapse - The Federal Reserve has more power over the performance of the U.S. economy than anyone else does. The Federal Reserve controls the money supply, the Federal Reserve sets the interest rates and the Federal Reserve hands out bailouts to the big banks that absolutely dwarf anything that Congress ever did. If the American people are ever going to learn what is really going on with our economy, then it is absolutely imperative that they get educated about the Federal Reserve. As close as a civilian without access can get --- several signs say DO NOT STOP -- high security around the facility (rightfully so btw) .. so of course we did not stop at the plant and ask for a tour --- but the shots are still great from the road! The facility is still steaming from near the reactor buildings -- as well as from the normal stacks. I would NOT recommend hanging out near the direct area where this steam is venting (in my opinion). Even a drive by with the amount of steam that was released gives me slight worry. (even though the levels are reported as safe -- even though my geiger counters returned 48CPM -- still makes me nervous knowing small amounts are free floating in the air). Clearly -- NO ONE is around outside --- no workers taking tests like one might think they would be doing after a venting issue. |

Syria regime change PR in high gear: More ‘newborn baby slaughter’ propaganda
Patrick Henningsen - We can already see exact parallels with the current PR operation to bring down Syria with how Libya went down. In one story published today, it seems that one award-winning mainstream newspaper has been caught red-handed running faux news on Syria - and incredibly, it’s not the first time this exact story has been used.t seems The Independent have been caught red-handed running faux news on Syria- and it’s a recycled story.
Erasing History In Afghanistan
In a country where the recent past has unfolded like a war epic, officials think they have found a way to teach Afghan history without widening the fractures between long-quarreling ethnic and political groups: leave out the past four decades. A series of government-issued textbooks funded by the United States and several foreign aid organizations do just that, pausing history in 1973. There is no mention of the Soviet war, the mujaheddin, the Taliban or the U.S. military presence. In their efforts to promote a single national identity, Afghan leaders have deemed their own history too controversial.

Parents furious as 13-year-old girls given contraceptive implants at school without their knowledge
Mail Online - Girls as young as 13 are being given contraceptive implants at school without their parents’ knowledge. Nurses insert devices into their arms which temporarily prevent pregnancy by releasing hormones into the blood. Last year 1,700 girls aged 13 and 14 were fitted with implants, while 800 had injections which have the same effect. The 2010/11 NHS figures also show that 3,200 15-year-old girls were fitted with implants, and 1,700 had injections. But under strict ‘patient confidentiality’ rules, staff are banned from seeking the permission of parents beforehand – or even informing them afterwards.

Poll finds broad support for Obama’s counterterrorism policies
Washington Post - The sharpest edges of President Obama’s counterterrorism policy, including the use of drone aircraft to kill suspected terrorists abroad and keeping open the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, have broad public support, including from the left wing of the Democratic Party. A new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows that Obama, who campaigned on a pledge to close the brig in Cuba and to change national security policies he criticized as inconsistent with U.S. law and values, has little to fear politically for failing to live up to all of those promises.

Revolutionaries: The Best Way to Tear Down the System is to Build Something New
Activist Post - Due to gross injustices built into the current system, angry mobs of disenfranchised protesters are pushing most of the world to the edge of global revolution. It's wonderful to see people find solidarity in opposing the destructive nature of the system. However, the idea that the public will ever force the entrenched corporate-states around the world to bend to their will because they're on the streets is very unlikely. Even if the protests become violent riots like in Greece, the controllers will not release their clutches. In fact, history says they'll only tighten them.

Reuters - A U.S. Roman Catholic television network said on Thursday it has filed suit in federal court to block President Barack Obama's new rule on contraceptives, while a Catholic Church leader and top Republicans stepped up their criticism of Obama. The Catholic Church opposes most methods of birth control.
10 states get education waivers
AP -President Barack Obama on Thursday will free 10 states from the strict and sweeping requirements of the No Child Left Behind education law in exchange for promises to improve the way schools teach and evaluate students. The move is a tacit acknowledgement that the law's main goal, getting all students up to par in reading and math by 2014, is not within reach. The first 10 states to receive the waivers are Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oklahoma and Tennessee, the White House said. The only state that applied for the flexibility and did not get it, New Mexico, is working with the administration to get approval.

VIDEO: Rick Santorum: Dead Foreign Scientists Are A 'Wonderful Thing'
Business Insider - "On occasion scientists working on the nuclear program in Iran turn up dead. I think that's a wonderful thing, candidly," said Rick Santorum at a recent campaign stop in Greenville, South Carolina. But it isn't just dead Iranian scientists that gladden Santorum's heart. He continued: "I think we should send a very clear message that if you are a scientist from Russia, North Korea, or from Iran and you are going to work on a nuclear program to develop a bomb for Iran, you are not safe."
Santorum: "People Have This Idea That They Should Be Left Alone"
Every so often, however, even the most careful politician lets his true inner self slip out. Mr. Santorum did so in a recent radio interview: One of the criticisms I make is to what I refer to as more of a Libertarianish right. They have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do, government should keep our taxes down, keep our regulations low, and that we shouldn’t get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn’t get involved in cultural issues. That is not how traditional conservatives view the world. There is no such society that I am aware of, where we’ve had radical individualism and that it succeeds as a culture.

The memorial's plaques have names and stories of about 3,000 who served in conflicts from World War I to Iraq. Retired Marine Lt. Col. Jack Harkins said people come to Mount Soledad from across the country to reflect and remember those who fought for the values of the American people. "Let future generations enjoy their right to that experience," he said. "Let this monument stand."

It now refers to illnesses transferred by insects, as opposed to simply a tick-borne disease. Mosquitoes can carry Lyme disease and many other serious infections, as can spiders, fleas and mites.

ShockRounds: less-lethal ammo assaults multiple senses
Activist Post - The defense industry seems to be quite fascinated with the concept of smart munitions, evidenced by the massive taxpayer dollars poured into programs like the self-guided bullet development at Sandia National Laboratories.... SmartRounds Technology (SRT) is developing a round which carries liquefied compressed gas and then activates a high-powered “shock wave” which, upon impact, rapidly expands and “attacks three of the five human senses.” Generally, one unit volume of the liquefied compressed gas will expand to around 800 unit volumes at standard temperature and pressure, meaning that a relatively large amount of gas (like a chemical irritant) can be carried in quite a small package.

NH May Drop Licensing in Name of Food Freedom
Food Safety News - As early as next week, the New Hampshire House of Representatives will likely be deciding whether the "Live Free or Die" state should allow unlicensed "homestead" food and on-farm sales of raw milk. The quick action has left state regulators scrambling to get ahead of lawmakers who seem bent on removing government oversight of the sale of homemade food. The proposals are the latest tracks added to New Hampshire's burgeoning "food freedom" philosophy, which is encapsulated in Bill (HB) 1650. One tenet of the food freedom movement is that food produced in New Hampshire for in-state consumption should be free of federal regulation.
