Clinton expected to seek Saudi Arabia's help in confronting Iran
A Royal Feast for Hillary Clinton in Saudi Arabia
RAWDAT KHURAYIM, Saudi Arabia — The king of Saudi Arabia had Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton over for a friendly lunch Monday here at his desert camp, northeast of Riyadh. In a gesture of informality, King Abdullah reached for his remote control and switched on a giant flat-screen TV as soon as they sat down to eat at the vast horseshoe-shaped table.
With sports scores and highlights from a soccer match blaring from the screen, the king and Mrs. Clinton chatted over a buffet of lamb, rice, hummus and other dishes. At times, they lapsed into silence and stared at the TV, which, as if on cue, covered Mrs. Clinton’s visit to Saudi Arabia.
It was not clear whether the high volume also allowed King Abdullah to discuss private matters with his guest without the rest of the room eavesdropping. (In another gesture to Mrs. Clinton, King Abdullah made a rare exception and invited journalists traveling with her to the lunch.)
By all accounts, the king’s meeting with President Obama in June did not go well. Mr. Obama pressed him to make diplomatic gestures toward Israel, but the king balked and the president left empty-handed.
This time, King Abdullah seemed determined to strike the right mood. He sent his ultraluxurious tour bus to pick up Mrs. Clinton at the airport for the hourlong drive to his camp. The foreign minister, Prince Saud al-Faisal, regaled her with jokes and stories about camels on the way.
Prince Saud’s stories provided the grist for Mrs. Clinton to break the ice when she arrived at the encampment, a guarded complex with a fleet of helicopters and air-conditioned trailers surrounding a six-pointed black tent that resembled nothing so much as a circus big top.
“I want you to know, your majesty, that his highness thinks camels are ugly,” Mrs. Clinton said with a grin, pointing to Prince Saud.
“I think his highness was not being fair to camels,” the king replied.

COUNTRY FOCUS: Turkey. Turkey to assist in Iran uranium swap. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan makes pitch to Tehran. |
Russia dismissed on Monday reports that world powers had made new offers to Iran on uranium reprocessing in a bid to defuse growing tensions over the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.
"There have been no new offers," a Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
He added that Iranian nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi's earlier statement on new offers was most likely a reference to a scheme drawn up in Vienna last October by the UN nuclear watchdog and approved by the Iran Six of the U.S., Russia, Britain, China, Germany and France.
The spokesman confirmed that the offer remained on the table, despite Iran's recent decision to begin enriching uranium to 20%.
In line with the Vienna plan, the Islamic Republic was to ship out its low-enriched uranium to Russia for further enrichment and subsequently send it to France where it would be made into fuel rods.
Tehran stalled and then rejected the plan, suggesting it could consider a simultaneous swap of its low-enriched uranium for 20%-enriched uranium, but that the exchange should be simultaneous and would have to take place on its own territory.
Iran's move to begin enriching uranium to 20% drew stinging criticism from U.S. President Barack Obama, who said on Tuesday that Washington and its allies would begin developing "significant" new sanctions against Tehran.
Obama also praised Russia's "forward-leaning" statements on the issue after Russia's security chief Nikolai Patrushev said Iran's actions meant that fears by Western powers over the nature of its nuclear program were "reasonable."

Will Obama's Record War Budget Lead to a US Victory in Afghanistan? Don't Bet On it? President Barack Obama has increased the Pentagon's perennially-bloated annual spending spree to its greatest magnitude since World War II $708 billion. Congress eventually will overwhelmingly approve Obama's war budget request for fiscal year 2011, which takes effect in October.
The Obama administration's funding recommendation was announced Feb. 1. The next day Reuters reported that "Shares of major U.S. defense contractors rose on Monday after the Obama administration unveiled a defense budget... that seeks a 3.4 percent increase in the Pentagon's base budget and $159 billion to fund missions in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan." |

Toxins in our food supply; foods meant to nourish us could be killing us
Mercury High levels of mercury can lead to developmental problems in babies. It can also damage the heart, kidneys and brains of adults. 8% of women have dangerously elevated levels of mercury in their blood. 90% of the mercury comes from fish. An EPA study found mercury in every freshwater fish that was tested. There has been no safe level of mercury found in humans.

Pesticides Has been known to cause cancer and ravage the nervous system. Nearly 1/3 of all fruits and vegetables sold in the U.S. are coated with pesticides. Dr. Alan Greene advised the public not to panic and stop eating fruits and vegetables because they are good for you. Pesticides can be directly toxic or neurotoxins. The higher the levels of pesticide that were found in children involved in a study in New York showed the kids had higher incidences of ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities. In a study with animals that were fed the same diet and had same exercise plan, those exposed to pesticides weighed 10% more. Dr. Green recommends eating organic fruits and vegetables as it does lower your exposure to pesticides.
Bisphenol A Has been linked to ovarian cancer, breast cancer and diabetes. 93% of Americans have BPA in their bodies from plastics. More information on what to look for, safe alternatives and how to cut your exposure of BPA.
How to limit exposure to toxins
- Buy organic (it is more expensive but to save costs stick to organic apples and potatoes because of the higher amount of consumption and higher levels of pesticides). It has also been advised to purchase organic fruits and vegetables that are thinned skinned due to the risk of the pesticides contaminating the inside
- Eat fish lower in mercury (salmon) (eat younger, smaller fish like herring and sardines) Avoid or eat rarely: Ahi tuna, swordfish, tilefish. Albacore tuna had more mercury than chunk light tuna. Chunk light tuna is ok twice a week. Albacore once a week. It can be canned or pouch.
- Choose fresh when possible. Frozen is second best. Choose boxes, glass or alternative packaging over cans.

UFO NEWS |
Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) UFO Database UFO filmed above Chinese city during the daytime Michael Cohen An anonymous witness noticed a fast moving triangular UFO crossing the sky above an unknown metropolis somewhere in China. The fast-acting witness to the UFO quickly grabbed for their mobile phone camera and was able to take this blurry footage. Some of China's UFO buffs have argued that this footage, as unclear as it is, constitutes evidence that unidentified flying objects do indeed exist in the skies above us. This footage has been posted on UFO websites across China and opinions as to the possible identity of the object vary. Most Chinese UFO enthusiasts think that this particular object might be a secret military craft. A minority think it might well be extraterrestrial. Reports of UFO sightings in the skies above China continue to roll in. Only two weeks ago a number of residents claim to have seen a spherical UFO descend on Shanghai. The above photo, initially thought to have been a hoax, is now regarded as a genuine capture of that object. Chinese Scientists are now planning to add this footage to the long list of images they intend to study in the hope of determining the identities of the objects in question. |
