SURVIVING THE REVOLUTION AND EARTH CHANGES

HIDDEN AGENDA

Unannounced objectives, needs, expectations, or strategies of a group when participating in an activity.

Since individuals keep their agendas secret, one has to rely on minimal clues to determine what others are thinking and have planned to do.

Government is more easily maintained if factions are set against each other, and not allowed to unite against the ruler

Common maxim (in Latin divide et impera, in German entzwei und gebiete)

  • If you haven't figured it out yet - our nation is populated by Federal Reserve slaves.
  • Our real property (land) is owned by the government - try not paying your property taxes.
  • Our home states have sold us out to get their hands on federal money
  • Our Federal Government is so in debt - if they were a company they would be broken up and sold in pieces
  • The only thing holding up the Federal Government is a non-stop printing press

Any time that the trucks stop moving at any point for any reason you have about 8 hours before the food is cleared out of stores

What are you going to do when people start going around looking for something to eat?

Putting Obama on Hold, in a Hint of Who’s Boss - the balance of power shifting back in Wall Street’s favor ....

President Obama didn’t exactly look thrilled as he stared at the Polycom speakerphone in front of him. “Well, I appreciate you guys calling in,” he began the meeting at the White House with Wall Street’s top brass on Monday.

He was, of course, referring to the three conspicuously absent attendees who were being piped in by telephone: Lloyd C. Blankfein, the chief executive of Goldman Sachs; John J. Mack, chairman of Morgan Stanley; and Richard D. Parsons, chairman of Citigroup.

Their excuse? “Inclement weather,” according to the White House. More precisely, fog delayed flights into Reagan National Airport. (In the “no good deed goes unpunished” category, the absent bankers were at least self-aware enough to try to fly commercial.)

IRS Sells SD Indian Tribe’s Land to Settle Debt

December 15, 2009

The IRS last week auctioned off a large swath of land owned by an impoverished Indian tribe to help pay off more than $3 million in back taxes, penalties and interest. The tribe says the sale is illegal under federal laws protecting American Indian land and sued to block the sale. A judge let it proceed but promised to schedule a trial to hear the tribe’s arguments.

CAN-DO urgently needs your help to address the crisis on the Crow Creek Indian Reservation, the nations poorest county. Just this week, Central Electric Cooperative cut power on residents with only a two days notice, directly violating South Dakota Law, the company's policies of not doing winter disconnects, and the General Managers document commitment to work with the community to reach a solution. Can you imagine trying to survive when you are unable to work, have no means to support your family, and then have to live in sub-zero conditions with no power? The kicker is, the power is produced their own land! The Deal, when they built the Big Ben Damn, was that the residents would receive free electricity...that never happened, instead the residents of Crow Creek pay a 1/3 higher than anywhere in the State with an average income of under 5k.

This is blatant abuse and the destruction of a community. What people need to understand is that when a person gets their power cut, they not only lose their heat and lights, but they also lose their food and often times water because of broken pipes, costing the residents thousands of dollars in repairs. With no job opportunities, close to 80% of these residents go without income and are often denied government funding. When most families are forced to live on $25 per person per week in food stamps. Losing power is not only an inconvenience, its life threatening. These are unacceptable conditions and need our immediate attention. News agencies and government officials have turned their backs on these American citizens allowing these conditions to persist. Please write to the media and your representative to address this now!

The Crow Creek Sioux Reservation is located in the central portion of South Dakota, 26 miles northwest of Chamberlain, South Dakota, which is on Interstate 90. The reservation boundaries on the west and south include lakes Sharpe and Francis Case, the large reservoirs formed by mainstem dams, Fort Randall and Big Bend dams, on the Missouri River. The reservation covers an area of about 400 square miles within Hughes, Hyde, and Buffalo counties. Of this area about 35 square miles are covered by major reservoirs and about 201 square miles are owned by the Tribe and Tribal members. The Crow Creek Sioux Tribe maintains the right and responsibility to provide environmental authority in compliance with Tribal and Federal law for protection of the land and resources within the exterior boundaries of the reservation through code development and regulatory mechanisms. The maintenance and protection of the land is very important to the Crow Creek people and our future generations.

Pastor Chuck Baldwin | A Suggested Survival List

Pastor Chuck Baldwin | A Suggested Survival List

December 15, 2009

One does not have to be a prophet to know that we are on the precipice of some potentially catastrophic—or at the very least, challenging—days. In fact, most of us are already in challenging days, and some are already enduring catastrophic events. That is, if one would call being out of work, losing one's home, facing life-threatening medical conditions without any prospect of medical insurance, several families being forced to live in one house due to homes being foreclosed, etc., catastrophic.

The potential for an escalation of cataclysmic events, however, is very real. Only a "blooming idiot" would call someone who attempts to prepare for "the day of adversity" a Chicken Little now. Anyone who does not see the storm clouds on the horizon isn't paying attention.

For example, can one imagine what would happen if terrorists nuked a major American city or cities? (Once again, I encourage readers to go get the videos of the CBS TV series "Jericho" to get an idea of how quickly life, and even civilization, could change.) Imagine if there was another 9/11-type event. What would happen if some form of Zimbabwe-style inflation hit the US? What would happen if anything disrupted the distribution of Welfare checks, or food to local grocers? Imagine a Hurricane Katrina-style natural disaster in your town. I think people everywhere are beginning to awaken to just how vulnerable we all really are.

As a result, people from virtually every walk of life have recently been asking my thoughts on how they should prepare. Therefore, I will attempt to share with my readers some of the counsel I have given these folks.

First, a disclaimer. I am not an economist; I am not a survival expert; I am not a firearms expert; I am not an attorney; I am not a physician. In fact, I am not an expert in anything! For several years, however, I have tried to learn from others. I am an avid reader. My work has allowed me to travel extensively. I have had the privilege of sitting at the feet of—and learning from—many of America's most learned, most trained, and most qualified "experts" in a variety of fields. What I write today, I have learned from others. I've formed my own opinions and priorities, of course, but everything I'm sharing has been said, or written about, before. But if I can share something in today's column that will help someone be better prepared for the days to come, then my goal will have been achieved.

Location:

First, analyze your living conditions. Where do you live? Do you live in an urban or rural environment? Is it a big city or small town? Do you live in an apartment or condominium? How close are your neighbors? Do you even know your neighbors? Would you trust them if the electricity was off and they were hungry? Could you grow your own food, if you had to? How easily could you secure your home? If you live in a cold weather environment, how long could you stay warm without electricity? These are the kinds of questions you need to ask yourself now.

........

.... During a major disaster, food will quickly disappear. Living for over 3 decades on the Gulf Coast, I can tell you with absolute certainty that whenever disaster strikes (usually an approaching hurricane, for us), food and provisions at the store sell completely out in a matter of a few hours. People panic, and within hours, you cannot find food, bottled water, ice, generators, batteries, candles, etc. In a matter of hours, every gas station in the area will be completely out of gas. Not days. Hours!

Furthermore, almost all disasters include a complete loss of electricity. The water supply is compromised. Bottled water becomes more valuable than bank accounts. Dehydration becomes a very real and present danger. I remember witnessing a man offer an ice vendor $100 for an extra bag of ice during Hurricane Ivan. My wife and I went 2 weeks (14 days) without electricity in the aftermath of that hurricane. Believe me, I got a taste of just how precious bottled water, ice, batteries, generators, fuel, etc., can become.

I suggest you have a supply of food and water to last at least 2 weeks. A month would be even better. Personally, I can live a long time on tuna fish or peanut butter ...

China starts building world's longest sea bridge

BEIJING, December 15 (RIA Novosti) The construction of the world's longest cross-sea bridge began in China on Tuesday, the Xinhua news agency said. The bridge, linking China's southern economic hub of Guangdong Province to Hong Kong and Macao, will have a total length of almost 50 km, of which about 35 km will be built over the sea.

"It is designed with a service life of 120 years. It can withstand the impact of a strong wind with a speed of 51 meters per second," said Zhu Yongling, an official in charge of the project. "It can also resist the impact of 8-magnitude earthquake and a 300,000-ton vessel," he added.

The entire project was estimated at 73 billion yuan ($10.7 billion). The cost is to be shared between authorities on the mainland, and in Hong Kong and Macao. The authorities pledged to consider environmental issues during the construction, which will last for six years. The world's current longest bridge spans the Hangzhau Bay in the East China Sea, and is 36 km long.

The Philippines lies along the Pacific "Ring of Fire".
About 22 out of 37 volcanos in the archipelago are active.

Lava cascades down the slopes of Mayon volcano in Legazpi city, Albay province, at dawn Tuesday Dec. 15, 2009 about 500 kilometers (310 miles) south of Manila, Philippines. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, PHIVOLCS, has raised the five-alert level to three following increased activity of the country's most active volcano and residents are prohibited from venturing into the 6-kilometer (4 miles) permanent danger zone. In December 2006 ash deposits from a previous eruption rolled down its slopes at the onslaught of a typhoon killing more than a thousand residents living around the cone-shaped volcano.

Inconvenient truth for Al Gore as his North Pole sums don't add up

December 15, 2009 - There are many kinds of truth. Al Gore was poleaxed by an inconvenient one yesterday.

The former US Vice-President, who became an unlikely figurehead for the green movement after narrating the Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth, became entangled in a new climate change “spin” row.

Mr Gore, speaking at the Copenhagen climate change summit, stated the latest research showed that the Arctic could be completely ice-free in five years.

In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”

However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore.

The embarrassing error cast another shadow over the conference after the controversy over the hacked e-mails from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, which appeared to suggest that scientists had manipulated data to strengthen their argument that human activities were causing global warming.

On Soldiers to Refuse Orders to Deploy to Afghanistan and Iraq

In response to President Barack Obama's announcement on December 1 to deploy 30,000 additional troops to the occupation of Afghanistan, the organization March Forward!, comprising both veterans and active-duty members of the US military, has called on all soldiers to refuse their orders to deploy.

"March Forward! calls on all service members to refuse orders to deploy to Afghanistan and Iraq," reads a press release from the group from December 3. "We offer our unconditional support and solidarity. Join us in the fight to ensure that no more soldiers or civilians lose their lives in these criminal wars."

Michael Prysner, a former corporal in the Army who served from 2001-2005 and a veteran of the occupation of Iraq, co-founded the group with another Iraq war veteran, James Circello.

Truthout asked Prysner how he responds to those who believe a soldier should always follow orders, no matter what.

"In my experience the majority of people joining the military today join out of necessity, like money, jobs, help for their family, etc., so most don't join for ideological or patriotic reasons. Most are driven into the military by economic conditions. We see this playing out now, as people are joining in droves because of the economy."

Prysner added, "Yes, people do sign a contract to follow orders, but those orders are wrong and unlawful. We want to educate people to the fact that these are immoral orders, and they [soldiers] are being used as muscle for corporations, to colonize the developing world, and it's not legitimate. People who join and take this oath seriously who think they are in [the military] to defend the US, this is not what we are being used for in the military today."

Veterans and active-duty service members respond
to Obama's speech on Afghanistan war escalation

The statement below was issued on Dec. 3 by March Forward!, an organization of veterans and active-duty service members affiliated with the ANSWER Coalition.

On Dec. 1, we got a clear order from President Obama. For many more years, we will be sent to kill, to die, to be maimed and wounded, in a war where “victory” is impossible, against a people who are not our enemies.

For over eight years, we have come home in coffins, in wheelchairs, with our skin burned and with our days and nights haunted by the trauma of war. We return home to a VA whose services are so inadequate that active duty soldiers who succumb to suicide outnumber those killed in combat.

The suffering we and our families must cope with is shared by the people of Afghanistan, a people who did nothing except be born in one of the most impoverished countries on the planet, which Washington saw decades ago as a strategic region for trade, resources and the launching of future wars.

The Afghanistan war is not a war to “help” the Afghan people, and it is certainly not a war for “national defense.” It is a colonial-type war. It is a war like every other war the U.S. has waged; a war based on lies and false rationales, serving only to expand the reach of U.S. corporate interests.

Many of us joined the U.S. military because we believed we would be standing for something honorable and just; that we would be defending our families and helping those in need. But this is the great lie peddled by the military brass. And this is the great lie President Obama has just repeated to the world.

We soldiers are the muscle used to colonize the world for the rich. This is why all of us—those currently serving in the U.S. military, and all those who have served—have common cause.

Obama’s announcement to continue and vastly escalate the war in Afghanistan is a death sentence for us and our sisters and brothers in uniform. Why should we fight in this war? Why should we risk being killed, or our losing limbs, or being permanently disfigured, or enduring a lifetime of PTSD? Why should we leave our families and our children behind, why should we watch our friends die, why should we destroy the lives of innocent people who have done nothing to harm us?

We should not!

March Forward! supports the right of all service members to refuse illegal and immoral orders. Orders to deploy to Afghanistan and Iraq are just that: illegal and immoral. We have no reason to fight in these wars, and we have every right to refuse to be a part of them.

March Forward! calls on all service members to refuse orders to deploy to Afghanistan and Iraq. We offer our unconditional support and solidarity. Join us in the fight to ensure that no more soldiers or civilians lose their lives in these criminal wars.

This is not our war!

March Forward!
10 Point Program for Struggle

1

We demand the right to refuse illegal and immoral orders.
Service members should no longer be bound to carry out the plans of the Pentagon and Wall Street in violation of U.S. law, international law and people’s right to self-determination. Service members deserve the right to resist, without persecution, orders that conflict with internationally recognized laws or that conflict with their own conscience.

2

We demand an immediate end to the criminal occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Service members should no longer be sent to fight, kill, die, be seriously wounded and/or psychologically scarred furthering the domination of U.S. corporations over other nations. We have nothing to gain from these wars. The occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan serve only the interests of the rich, not the service personnel who are sent over and over to repress people who have the right to determine their own destiny. The people of Iraq and Afghanistan are not our enemies. The more than 800 U.S. bases in 130 countries around the world should be shut down and the troops, fleets and air power brought home.

3

We demand an end to the existing officer corps.
The existing class stratification in the military must end. Officers—who are overwhelmingly from more privileged sectors of society—enjoy a much higher standard of living. They are paid significantly more, are provided much higher quality housing, and have access to services not available to enlisted personnel. Officers advance their careers on the backs of enlisted personnel, going so far as to send their troops into harm’s way for the good of their résumés. The existing officer corps should be dismantled and replaced by enlisted service members who are democratically elected by their units and who are subject to recall at anytime. Officers should no longer enjoy special privileges, including hand salutes. We also demand the right for lower enlisted ranks to unionize and form committees to address grievances with the chain of command, the unit and the military.

4

We demand an end to racism, sexism and homophobia prevalent in the military.
These are intentional barriers to rank-and-file unity against the will of the Pentagon, and must be eliminated through comprehensive education and strict disciplinary action. We demand an end to the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and all other discriminatory measures against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and transgender individuals.

5

We demand adequate funding for The Department of Veterans Affairs.
Veterans should have full access to quality health care. Services should be drastically expanded to meet the real physical and mental health needs of veterans and their families. Independent medical investigations should be initiated to research the effects of potentially harmful experimental drugs and chemical, biological and nuclear agents to which service members have been exposed. Any service member who has served in a combat theater should automatically receive lifetime compensation from the VA for being forced to suffer or inflict physical and/or psychological harm in advancing the interests of U.S. corporations.

6

We demand the right to a job, housing, health care and education for all.
Service members are lured into the military with the hopes of escaping economic hardship as a civilian, and to obtain education benefits and job training. Yet thousands of service members must remain in the military, literally trapped due to the lack of opportunities in the civilian world. No service member should have to choose between military service and poverty. Housing, a job, and access to free quality education and job training should be a right for everyone.

7

We demand the immediate end to all military aid to governments in service of US imperialism.
U.S. domination is not only exercised through direct military involvement, but also through a myriad of brutal client regimes and comprador governments that are funded, supported and directed by the U.S. government. Service members should not have to serve a military that uses billions of dollars in funds and weapons to prop up governments that are guilty of committing war crimes or repressing their citizens for the interests of the Pentagon and Wall Street. Aid to such countries as Israel, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, South Korea, Uganda and Egypt should be immediately cut off. All remaining funds, military equipment and weapons should be repossessed. Reparations should be paid to the populations that the military aid was used to repress.

8

We demand the immediate dismantling of the permanent military-industrial complex.
As long as there is a system in place that allows U.S. corporations to reap massive profits from going to war, there will be war for profit. The domination of the military-industrial complex has caused the death of tens of thousands of service personnel, and millions of innocent people—all in the name of profit. All private military corporations should be shut down or nationalized. The more than 1 trillion dollars a year that feeds the Pentagon and the military-industrial complex should be used to meet people’s needs.

9

We demand that all those involved in pursuing war for profit be indicted.
To ensure that service personnel no longer have to fight for the interests of the rich, all those responsible must be held accountable. Politicians, policy makers, lobbyists, CEOs and others involved in pursuing warfare—both military and economic—as a means to reap profit should be indicted for war crimes. Media outlets involved in disseminating false information in support of these plans should also be held accountable.

10
We demand full reparations paid, with interest, to all victims of the U.S. military.
As service members in the U.S. military, we have been told that our enemy is the poor and oppressed abroad. But they are not our enemies. To begin to undo the injustices in which we have been forced to take part, the U.S. government should pay for the rebuilding of every structure bombed, compensating families for every person killed and providing a lifetime of health care and disability benefits for every individual wounded, including resistance fighters who took up arms against the U.S. military.

Native American Saltworks -- Oldest Business in North America

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 08:40 PM PST

Native Americans of the Miwok tribe in the northern Sierra Nevada, Calif., were one of the first groups to move from a hunter-gatherer activity to manufacturing, producing salt for trade.

New U. S. Geological Survey research indicates that more than 350 basins three to four feet in diameter are carved in granite in an area the size of a football field, and that they were intentionally created by this tribe for the purpose of refining salt from a nearby salt spring.

“The water was carried to the individual basins, probably in water-tight baskets, where it dried in the summer heat, leaving a salt residue on the basin floor,” said Jim Moore, USGS geologist and co-author of the report. “Such a large enterprise produced far more salt than was needed by the local tribe for cooking, preserving food, and attracting animals for hunting, and they had a large surplus of the valuable item left over for trade with other tribes.”

Analysis of the salt content and flow of the water reveal that the spring supplies about three tons of salt each summer. The tribe created just enough basins to exploit virtually all of this salt - about two and a half tons - as determined by the size of the basins and the evaporation rate of the water in the basins. Additionally, the relatively uniform size, lack of overlap, and smooth hemispherical shape indicate that the basins are not of natural origin, as reported in previous work.

Making these basins was challenging and required concerted effort by this group of Native Americans, though the exact techniques used to excavate so many basins in this glaciated bedrock are not known.

“Fire was probably used to heat the rock reducing its strength and making it easier to grind,” said Mike Diggles, USGS geologist and co-author of the report. “To deepen the basins just one centimeter, they had to build and maintain a hot fire on the rock, let it burn out, and then pound the bedrock with stone tools.”

The Miwok had to repeat this process about 100 times to carve a basin three feet deep into the stone. It would have taken several workers nearly a year to make just one basin.

The full report, titled Hand-hewn granite basins at Native American saltworks, Sierra Nevada, California, was published in the beginning of November.
